DIY Tiroler Hölzl Fishing weight lead
thingiverse
Hello fellow anglers, As a devoted fisherman, I once wondered what you could do with a 3D printer to make fishing easier. Here's a DIY kit for building the popular Tyrolean holzl. All you need is a 3D printer, heat-resistant 2K duplicating silicone, an 8/11mm hose, a gas burner, an old pot, and of course all necessary safety gear. The top pieces must be filled with at least 80% to ensure they're strong enough. I recommend printing them from PETG or PLA and then annealing them for added durability. The shapes themselves require minimal support; they were printed with just 10% infill. After printing, fill the molds with freshly mixed duplicating silicone and let it dry for 2-4 hours. Then carefully cut along the mold's edges and remove the PLA shape. Now your silicone molds are ready to be filled with lead. Place the silicone mold on a heat-resistant pad, melt the lead, and pour it in carefully from above. You can speed up the cooling process by pouring water over the mold. Once cooled, remove the lead from the mold and cut off any excess material just above and below the edges. Your lead weight is now complete. Assemble the lead weight with the hose and head piece to finish your Tyrolean holzl. Have fun rebuilding, but be sure to melt the lead carefully! The top piece can be used for all sizes: 30g, 50g, 70g, 100g, 120g, or 150g.
