DIY "surgical" mask
thingiverse
This is a very simple do-it-yourself "surgical" mask. DISCLAIMERS: This is not a medical device. I am not a medical person. There are no guarantees on the effectiveness of this in stopping you from getting the corona-virus or transmitting it. It may do some good if: - it reminds you not to touch your face - it captures some of your cough - it stops some of the virus if somebody coughs near you - it reminds others to keep their distance. - if you use this mask instead of a real surgical mask and that real mask goes on to save the life of a medical person who needed it required: - two prints of the side piece DIY_surgical_mask_r2_200329f.stl - one roughly 10 inch by 11 inch paper towel (254 mm x 279.4 mm) --- perhaps other materials may work better: shop towel, micro fiber cloth??? - rubber bands (I use four number thirty-two, three-inch by one-eighth inch rubber bands) assembly: - loop the rubber bands together to form a chain - attach rubber band chain to first side piece --- insert one end of rubber band chain into hole at bottom side piece --- pull end through and over large part of side piece --- pull tight so end is near hole - repeat to attach other end to other side piece - fan fold the paper towel so that it is no wider than 1 1/2 inch (38 mm) - insert first folded towel end into the slot nearest the rubber hole --- then insert into remaining slot - repeat for other end of folded towel this is similar to DIY surgical mask using elastic https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4316590 except it uses rubber bands
