DIY Spek DSM2 / DSMX JR Module - For my Taranis & Horus
thingiverse
Transform your Horizon RC aircraft with an OrangeRX module into a long-range, fully integrated Spektrum DSM2/DSMX transmitter using a DX4e module and Spek radio. This upgrade provides quicker resyncing after dropouts, greater range than the Orange module, model match for accidental profile prevention, and full integration of bind and range testing from the Taranis software menus. The Spektrum module eliminates PPM decoding delays, resulting in shorter latency and improved 3D flight performance. However, note that the ground pin connection on the schematic was initially wrong; correct it before proceeding. Proceed with caution as this is an experimental modification, and always accept responsibility for any risks involved. Harvest the DX5e module from your DX4e unit, use a HK 3.3V ubec instead of the 3.3V regulator from the DX4e, and employ circuit jumpers from Amazon for connectivity. Install a tin foil RF shield beneath the Tx module shelf to reduce electronic noise interference. Use appropriate diode and resistor values as specified in the instructions, and ensure smooth antenna wire routing to maximize range. Drill with precision using multiple drill bit sizes and quality drill indexes. Enjoy your upgraded RC aircraft!
