DIY push button with EnOcean
thingiverse
Today I'm excited to share a super simple housing mechanic for creating a customized push button for EnOcean's PTM switch module. This design allows you to modify the button model to fit your unique needs or shape and create a truly one-of-a-kind push button. The base part is already finished and fits perfectly with the PTM module and the inner shape of the button part. I've modeled this to make it easy to generate funny motive switches like the ones shown in the attached pictures. Some of these motive buttons may be added to Thingiverse later by me. I'd love to see all your creative ideas for how a push button switch should look like! Keep in mind that this simple model just actuates the PTM Module without any channel information, so most receivers will need additional setup to work correctly. To add channel information to the radio telegram, simply add an adequate pin to your design and adjust its length accordingly. Printer Settings: * Printer Brand: Ultimaker * Printer: Ultimaker 2 * Rafts: No * Supports: Doesn't Matter * Resolution: 0.1mm * Infill: 25% Notes: Depending on your model, you may need to print it upside down, especially when using supports for the inner bit of the button part. I recommend a support line distance of 1mm apart and at least one layer clearance on top. Post-Printing: Rework after print: I've noticed that the switch function and feeling depend heavily on the quality of your printer. You may need to smooth out the faces that rub together when switching, as well as shorten the length of the snaps on the button part to reduce friction. Both parts should slide in and out with minimal rubbing and scratching. If the PTM module doesn't switch back (or release), it's likely because the basic parts have a limited moving range. Try giving them more travel room. The original model is designed with a large margin, but you can never be too sure!
