DIY Parabolic Microphone

This is a set of components designed to transform a third-party parabolic dish into a parabolic microphone ideal for field recording. Every single one of these parts was specifically created to work seamlessly with a 22" diameter Lexan dish featuring a 4.5" focal length and a microphone tube matching the outside diameter of a standard 3/4" Schedule 40 PVC pipe. Comparable dishes may be sourced from suppliers other than the one mentioned in the build article, but the components included in this part set were carefully designed to work in harmony with a specific parabolic curvature. Any deviation in diameter and/or focal length will necessitate a redesign. To construct one of these dishes, you will need: A parabolic dish (not provided) Inner Collar (included) Outer Collar (included) Central Spigot (included) A drill handle capable of accommodating a 1-3/4" drill body (not included) Some 3/4" Schedule-40 PVC pipe to create a mic body (not included) A means of securing your microphones at the focal point of the paraboloid (included) The provided mic clips are specifically designed to work in tandem with Clippy mic bodies from FEL Communications (micbooster.com) in the UK. They offer an extensive range of components for building DIY mics, making them well worth exploring even if you plan on using a different microphone with your dish.
