This project was inspired by those cool IKEA shelf to monitor stand hacks I've seen floating around, though this one is designed for us Aussies. It was cheap to make, super easy to print and I think it'll look great on any modern desk with its clean aesthetic. So, instead of an IKEA shelf, the timber section is a joined piece of 1200 x 300 x 18mm Havea that I grabbed as a single piece from Bunnings Warehouse for just over $20. I then cut this piece down to 1000mm to better suit my desk and designed the legs around the board. This piece was then sanded and coated with two layers of beeswax, with buffing inbetween. This design should be able to be printed on most small consumer 3D printers as it is split into two halves that are joined by spigots (I recommend that a small amount of epoxy or superglue is added inside the hole prior to joining.) The design is surprisingly solid and rigid for its dimensions, and I haven't used anything to fasten the legs to the board, the fit is pretty snug sliding them on. Some key considerations: I used a 0.6mm nozzle and 0.48mm layer heights for a quick print, feel free to go as low as youl like for increased quality, though a quick sand of my prototypes made them look great. I recommend using a brim if your bed level isn't 100% dialled I printed these with 4 walls in PLA to ensure they were rigid enough. If you're using PETG or ABS you could possible get away with 2 or 3 If there's enough interest on this, I plan to make V2 a bit more thought-out and solid!
