DIY Micro 4/3 Lens v2.1, Duo lens design
thingiverse
Just grab a 10x cup magnifier (Carson LL-10 or an exact clone from the Daiso store) and you'll be ready to craft another brand new lens for your Micro 4/3 camera in no time. Fundamentally, it shares the same key components as the DIY Micro 4/3 Lens v1.1, but with one main body being 15 mm shorter and a focus ring that's 10 mm shorter than usual. By attaching both optical lenses from the Carson LL-10 (one secured onto the focus ring while another securely mounted to the main body), the overall focal length is expected to be approximately 42mm. If you prefer, you can also check out a pre-made Shapeways version here: http://shpws.me/z474 Instructions As this design is self-supporting, make sure to print it out in thin layers. I opted for printing mine with a layer height of 0.1 mm but 0.2 mm thickness also works just as well. Gently disassemble the cup magnifier and you'll discover two separate optical lenses inside. Take one lens and snap it securely into the back of the focus ring while attaching another lens to the main body in a similar fashion. The optical lenses from the Carson LL-10 come with a plano-convex shape, whereas those from the Daiso store are biconvex. Both options function perfectly well with the DIY Micro 4/3 lens, although they do display distinct distortion patterns. Additionally, swapping the orientation of these plano-convex lenses can yield diverse effects on your overall image distortion.
