DIY Linear Translational Stage - Micrometer resolution
thingiverse
This affordable Linear Translational Stage offers similar functionality to standard lab equivalents but with a reduced cost. Its sliding block can be moved with micrometer precision, up to 15mm distance, making it suitable for optical equipment and high-precision positioning tasks. The design consists of two parts: short test pieces print in minutes to check printer accuracy and dimensions, while chamfering the Rail edge if needed. Post-testing, print the complete design as per the image. Note that the Rail must be printed top-down for smooth sliding surface. Roughness above the gap doesn't matter due to accommodating space. Print using ABS at 0.1mm layers with parts positioned and rotated as displayed in images.
