DIY Lightsaber with real steel
thingiverse
Here is my version of a DIY Lightsaber inspired by the Star Wars movies: If someone has the same pieces in one garage's dark corner, or if it can be any inspiration. How I Designed This It's made of metal garden hose connectors, so it has a nice realistic weight (530 gr/1.06 lb) and appearance. After finding a nice disposition with the connectors, I modeled and printed the two end pieces that contain 6mm nuts, and the middle piece that contains super easy electronics (a small flat 3V battery, a resistor, and a red LED). The side button is a screw from a desktop computer. All the pieces are mounted on a central 6mm threaded rod. The LED has a spring-like bend pin above the battery, so when the whole lightsaber is tightened, it lights up. Only the Chosen One can activate the Lightsaber blade; otherwise, the LED will remain red! The metal hose connectors are from a French company named BOUTTÉ; I don't know if the same design can be found elsewhere. I've modeled the parts to be as easy as possible to print. No supports needed, however, it can be helpful on the middle part. No pausing required to get the nut inside; I've made side holes, hidden on the final assembly.
