This is an extended leg for a DIY laser engraver utilizing a 20X40 mm frame to lift the frame and work on thicker pieces that exceed the frame's dimensions. The design allows a long piece of 1" thick lumber to fit below the engraver, providing more flexibility in material handling. Future upgrades will include adjustable legs, enabling users to fine-tune the height for precise control. UPDATE: After printing and installing these extended legs, I found them to be excessively tall, so I've created a revised version with a 20mm reduction in height. Additionally, by making the legs universal and corner-specific, it reduces travel on the Y-axis of the engraver, enhancing overall performance. The next iteration will feature narrower legs, followed by an adjustable leg design that allows for a range of height adjustments. UPDATE 2: I've designed a new version of the universal leg, which no longer wraps around the corner, allowing for full X-gantry travel. This updated leg is specifically designed for M4 screws to secure it to the work surface. The next update will introduce an adjustable version, which I'm currently experimenting with different methods to achieve fine-tuned height control. UPDATE 3: I've successfully created an adjustable leg that provides stability by wrapping around the 2040 frame and offers adjustable height increments of 15mm up to 110mm from the work surface. To make it function correctly, users will need to print two "ADJ MOUNT" pieces and two "ADJ MOUNT MIRROR" pieces due to screw offset limitations. I'm currently testing the first trial prints of both the mount and leg, and the locking mechanism is showing promising results. If you have any suggestions for improvement or design changes, please let me know. I've considered implementing a screw-type adjustable leg but found that the ability to dial in precise height adjustments doesn't justify the need for frequent height/level checks on each corner. However, if there's demand for such a feature, it can be easily implemented with a simple modification.
