DIY Keybiner

I was really excited after coming across the Keybiner kickstarter (link: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/fortiusarms/keybiner-the-carabiner-refined) and immediately backed it, opting for an aluminum keybiner that I couldn't wait to try out once the estimated couple of months had passed. So, I decided to make my own version, which can be 3D printed or laser cut. This design isn't perfect, but it's a good starting point - the printed clip has very little tension, and I didn't spend much time designing a useful hole pattern in the middle like the real keybiner. If I had more free time (which is unlikely!), my next revision would probably include an integrated clip similar to this: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:169192. I held it together using 4-40 screws with nylock nuts, but 1/2" was just barely too short for two keys depending on their thickness, so I would try using a 5/8" length screw next time. I've included an STL file for the spacer I used, although it hasn't been tested since I simply used a nylon spacer that I had. The STL file has the same dimensions as the spacer and works well for holding two keys.
With this file you will be able to print DIY Keybiner with your 3D printer. Click on the button and save the file on your computer to work, edit or customize your design. You can also find more 3D designs for printers on DIY Keybiner.
