DIY Helical Wind Turbine
pinshape
Helical vertical-axis wind turbines with twisted blades can significantly boost efficiency. The design is optimized for the PRUSA MK3 printer's maximum printing volume, measuring 190x190 mm at its base and 210 mm in height. To ensure a secure fit, recesses are created for press-fitting 608 roller skate bearings (22mm outer diameter) at both the top and bottom. M3 screw holes are strategically positioned at the bottom of the base ring to allow adding inertia with M3 bolts. Three evenly spaced mounting holes surround the lower bearing for attaching custom accessories like belt pulleys, which can be used to connect the turbine to a dynamo or other driven mechanisms. To print this design successfully, it is recommended to use PET-G material and set the layer height to 0.3 mm, with three perimeter walls printed using a nozzle of 0.4 mm diameter.
