DIY Glass Build Plate & Racking System
thingiverse
For high-quality, consistent prints, a level build plate is crucial. It provides the base for your part and ensures a good first layer. Printing on glass is popular due to its quality; I've used inexpensive 2mm picture glass (also known as float glass) with success. Videos guide you through cutting your own glass, setting up your printer, and assembling the rack. Typical glass cutters can be found online. Print the required templates for the rack sides. My recommended settings include ABS filament, 0.2mm layer height, three shells, 40% infill, extruder temperature at 235°C, and build plate temperature at 115°C. Don't be afraid to break a plate; with DIY cutting, they are inexpensive.
