DIY Drone Racing Gate Pool Noodle Mount
thingiverse
A budget-friendly approach to creating a customizable gate for drone racing involves using a pool noodle as the body and reasonably thick gauge wire with looped ends. This setup can be easily modified by attaching a 3D printed part to each end of the pool noodle, allowing it to be placed on the ground for indoor racing or secured with two tent pegs. When used without tent pegs indoors, the gate remains stable during normal operation but is susceptible to falling over in the event of a crash due to uneven footing caused by wire tension. To address this issue while maintaining customizability for different drone gates and tensions, users can add weights to the arms of the mount when racing indoors. This cost-effective solution appears to function well as an FPV drone racing gate.
