DIY bowden capture or join
thingiverse
I'm not a fan of bowden capture units that come pre-assembled, they work okay as long as you don't need to swap out the tube and can live with it cutting into the Teflon. I tried some DIY solutions from Thingiverse, which had screw-on tapered nut designs, but I found them too flimsy, especially when using M6 threads. This design allows for easy removal of the tube without causing damage. If you need to connect two tubes together, simply make a cone on both ends and use two top clamps. Method: To get started, you'll need an M6x30mm insert from Aliexpress or similar. Alternatively, you can heat up an M6 bolt to soften it, then drill a 2 or 2.5 mm hole in the center (preferably using a drill press). Next, take your PTFE/PFA tube and shape one end into a cone by softening it on a hot nail. Now, screw the M6 insert or bolt into the bottom part and secure it to the extruder with an M6 nut if needed. Finally, slide the Teflon tube into the top half and attach it to the bottom part using M3 nuts or bolts.
