DIY 6w Solar Charger
thingiverse
The DC power source is an off-grid, 9-volt, 3-watt (search on eBay "9v 3w solar panel") that serves as the backbone of my DIY solar panel setup. For projects requiring only a 5-volt output, you can opt for either a 5- or 6-volt solar panel. I chose a 9-volt configuration to cater to my need for powering a 2-cell lithium battery pack, which demands an input voltage of approximately 8.4 volts. Two parallel-connected solar panels ensure maximum current output at 9 volts. Under ideal conditions, this setup can provide about 550 milliamps (mA) at 9 volts, which is subsequently adjusted to the required 5-volt level via a DC-DC step-down converter.
