Divider (Print-in-Place Compass Remix)
prusaprinters

A friend of mine is somewhat obsessed with dividers (in a manner similar to the author of this piece: https://bigjumppress.wordpress.com/2014/09/30/divide-my-heart-an-ode-to-my-favorite-tool/), so I adapted LoboCNC's excellent print in place compass so that it measures and transfers distance rather than drawing circles. It was a simple matter to mirror the pointed end in Openscad so that both arms are symmetrical.

The only improvement I can think of is adding holes for sewing pins or something so that it will actually stab through papers rather than indent.

Print instructions

Category: Tools Print Settings

Printer: Reach 3D

Rafts: Doesn't Matter

Supports: Yes

Resolution: .2

Infill: 20

Notes:

It's necessary to go super slow. so that it doesn't lock up. I printed at 30mm/s for both perimeters and infill with the extrusion percentage cranked down to 93%. I also lowered the temperature to 190 in order to theoretically limit layer adhesion. It took a lot of patience and careful wiggling to initially get it moving, but it's worth the effort.
