District 9 Assault Rifle - from the Weta Workshop I crafted this prop as part of an MCM Comic-con 2017 costume, showcasing my skills in design and fabrication. The CAD model was created entirely from scratch, broken down into parts for easy assembly, printed, reassembled, painted, and weathered to perfection. The design is engineered to be simple to assemble, with the use of strong glue coupled with slots and tabs providing stability. To assist in building this model, I have included detailed photos of the finished product, a comprehensive list of all parts used, and a step-by-step PDF guide for assembly. This prop stands approximately just under a metre (3 feet) long, with some artistic liberties taken to enhance its appearance, such as reducing the size of the bottle component. During the convention, I had the opportunity to discuss my prop with someone who owns an officially licensed Weta item of this kind, and they informed me that my creation is approximately 80% the original size. Furthermore, it boasts a significant weight advantage over the official prop, which is constructed from solid resin. The accompanying images include not only the prop itself but also a PDF guide for assembly, two sticker sheets, photographs taken at the convention, a picture of the vest armor I designed to complement the costume, and a PDF of the MNU ID badge I created to complete the look.
