District 9 Alien Assault Rifle

I'm a huge enthusiast of Neil Blomkamp's sci-fi brand and since District 9 is set in my hometown, I felt compelled to create this project! This was a long-awaited 3D model that required patience and dedication. Despite the challenges, I learned a lot from the mistakes made along the way. One major obstacle was the lack of tabs on the main body's design, which made it difficult to assemble due to Maya's complex mesh structure. However, with some DIY post-printing tweaks, I managed to resolve the issue successfully. Additionally, the cylindrical components on the side were scaled up to 98% of their original size to facilitate dry fitting and minimize sanding requirements.
