Distagon f/4 40 mm C lens hood
thingiverse
Recently, the purchase of a Hasselblad 40mm C f/4 excited me, as I am an ardent fan of medium format cameras and lenses. These lenses are known for their sharpness, durability, and excellent performance. However, this lens weighs a massive 1.375kg, or approximately 3lbs, which scared me as I didn't have a filter to mount on it initially. Older series Hasselblad lenses, along with some Rolleis, use bayonet style filters and lens hoods that are hard to come by and expensive if found. To solve this issue, I decided to design a lens hood that could be printed and mounted onto the camera. The required hood is of b104 size and fits perfectly on the 104mm diameter lens. Despite my search for a rubber lens hood sold specifically for this camera, I couldn't find one for sale or even as reference. My CAD design was based on numerous pictures, measurements from the lens itself, and a b60 lens hood from another lens. A nice image of the same lens can be found at this Flickr link: http://flic.kr/p/cifyDh. To use my printed lens hood, simply attach it to your camera and enjoy the enhanced experience. I printed a version in ABS, which turned out sturdy. The bayonet diameter fit was initially snug but has been increased for better fitting. Other updates include thickening the bayonet ring, tweaking the maximum rotation, adding a taper to the lens hood for strength, changing the bayonet mount to friction/interference fit, and fixing the hood diameter. Please note that I have not printed this on a RepRap or Makerbot yet; instead, I used a Stratsys Vantage with water-soluble support material.
