This is a tray for safely storing the small lithium-ion rechargeable batteries recovered from disposable vapes, prevent there terminals from wantonly rubbing together in drawers. Shorts across lithium cells, even ones that seem to be drained, can be very unpleasant. As sized, it is ideal for the 14300 cells in “Elf Bars”, and the 801640 cells in “Geek Bars”. Other cells may or may not fit; there is a startling variety of them out there. However, as the design is parametric, you can easily adjust the size of each battery slot, as well as the number.

The supplied STLs are sized for 24 cells. Just slice and print - no supports needed, should print easily. Print a tray and a lid.

If you wish to print for different sizes, or different numbers of cells, the OpenSCAD source file is included - detailed instructions are in the file, but it's a matter of seconds to resize and generate the STLs for different sizes using OpenSCAD.

Side note: please be careful charging these cells! Whatever you do, don't just slap 5V (eg from USB) across the cell to charge it. It may work sometimes, but it may also result in the cell venting toxic fumes, or even a jet of unextinguishable self-oxidising flame. At least get some TP4056 charging boards. It's also well worth watch Big Clive's video on the subject (see below). Have fun and stay safe!

<oembed url="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M88e1r8nvYk"></oembed>

)
