Replacement Part for Kenmore Dishwasher Fixes Door Hinge Issue. The rubber friction sleeve is a vital component of the door hinge that prevents the door from falling when opened. We found one of these sleeves on the floor with an end torn off and noticed the door seemed heavier than before. After pulling out the dishwasher from under the counter, we discovered both sides were missing. Designing in OpenSCAD took about 20 minutes, while printing two parts took approximately 30 minutes. Installation only took less than 15 minutes at a cost of about $0.20 each. The OpenSCAD source is included. The original parts are made from hard rubber; therefore, you need to use a flexible and durable filament like TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane). TPU is extremely tough and resistant to oil, grease, and abrasion but still remains flexible. Update 24/07/20 - After using the TPU sleeves for some time, they started squeaking; so we re-printed them with a TPE filament that is slightly softer and has no shiny surface on the finished part. This cured the squeak. Our dishwasher is a Kenmore model but this replacement part also fits other brands such as Whirlpool, Maytag, Amana, Estate, Magic Chef, Inglis, Crosley, Roper. Manufacturer's part number WP8268961.
