Dishwasher Clean/Dirty Sign / Signal / Flag

<p>For years, our dishwasher clean/dirty flag was a dollar-store cheapo. When it got knocked off the dishwasher one time too many and broke, I decided (with my usual tendency to over-engineer everything) to print a new one. The original plan was to use two files merged in Cura to take advantage of the dual-material capability of the Ultimaker, but as I'm currently working from home, I didn't have all the print cores I needed to pull this off. So I just used a single extruder, and switched materials at the right moment. You could just as easily use .2 mm and 20% and still produce perfectly acceptable results. Black/red colors were just what I had on hand (though I do recommend very contrasted colors if you're going to use more than one). PLA/Tough PLA was also just what was on hand.</p> To achieve the two color effect with best contrast, switch filament after the first layer of the arrows prints, and the gap between them is done, so the gap remains in the contrasting color. <h3>Post-Printing</h3> <p><strong>Don't use a brim, and stick (ha ha) with a cheap magnet</strong></p> <p>If you can avoid it, don't use a brim for adhesion, use a one line skirt instead. The brim is hard to remove cleanly, and doing so with a knife ruins the nice sharp lines of the edge. just my opinion. In the picture of the back, you can see the divots my knife left because of My unsteady steady hand.</p> <p>The magnet is a 1-inch craft disc recycled from my dollar-store dishwasher sign, adhered to the sign with Gorilla's E-6000 equivalent. You could use a neodymium magnet from K &amp; J or Gaussboys, but I don't recommend it.
