Dishwasher Cat Magnet
thingiverse
My wife wanted a magnetic clean/dirty indicator for our dishwasher, so we searched Thingiverse for cat silhouettes since we both love cats. We found the designs by @wslab and my wife chose Black Cat 10. I downloaded the .stl file and modified it in FreeCAD to create a 5mm thick extrusion with "CLEAN" and "DIRTY" text strings cut into the front and back, as well as two voids for magnets inside. The 15mm x 6.5mm x 3mm magnets I used are available on Amazon at this link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077BWCC8D/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. Any magnet with the same dimensions will work. To make it easier to grip, I added a chamfer to the bottom edge of the indicator, but unfortunately, it doesn't seem to work without fingernails. I sliced the model using Slic3r PE v 1.42.0 beta1 at 0.2mm layer thickness, and included filament color changes after 2mm and 3mm. The Hatchbox Red filament was used for the bottom layer, Prusament Galaxy Black for the middle layer, and Hatchbox Green for the top layer. I encoded a pause in the Slic3r project to insert the magnets before the 4.2mm layer, which can be loaded using the included .3mf file. The model is designed to work with the Original Prusa i3 MK3S printer, and firmware version 3.7.0-RC1 was used during printing. You can view pictures and videos of the print process in this Google Photo Album: https://photos.app.goo.gl/fMW4xSKwLbmfoGNk6. 2019-10-18 - I added a STEP file to make remixing outside of FreeCAD easier, updated the .3mf file for PrusaSlicer v2.1.0, and included a version with the words offset from each other to allow better prints when using a transparent middle color.
