dish towel mask (not tested for CoVid-19)
grabcad
This mask has been designed to fit perfectly on folded and cut out dish towels. The idea came to me after reading an article in search of a readily available material to use as a filter, since commercial ones are not always easy to find. I've solved the breathability problem by increasing the filtering surface area. Please note that this mask has not been laboratory tested, and its effectiveness also depends on proper positioning on the face, positioning of the filter between the ring and the mask, and attention to cleaning hands, face, and mask before and after each use. Always wash with soap and water before and especially after each use because viruses tend to linger on plastic surfaces. Store dry in a clean container or shell after washing. The material used is up to you; I think PETG is better, but PLA is also an option for its simplicity of printing. For best face adhesion, I recommend using window sealing strips and hot gluing them in place. Closed cell gaskets are ideal. You can use any elastic bands you prefer; the slots measure 2.5mm x 8mm, and they can be recovered from old masks. The dish towel should be as new as possible to ensure fabric integrity. To cut it, fold it in two, place it on the mask with the bent side extending beyond the upper engagement, mark the support contour of the ring leaving a little extra room. Then fold again along the center line of the mask and cut with scissors along the marked contour. Refer to the .PDF file for clearer instructions on filter positioning. Don't forget that you should use tested commercial masks, and this is an idea for situations where masks are not available. I hope you like this mask design; everyone is free to redesign and improve it as they see fit. I also hope you're all well and that soon we'll no longer need these masks.
