Human Shield Model for EverQuest 2 Shield models have been used to control human behavior in virtual worlds since the launch of EverQuest 2. In this article we will discuss how shield models work and what they do. EverQuest 2 is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game, or MMORPG, that allows players to interact with each other in real time. Players can form guilds, participate in group events, and engage in player versus player combat. However, managing the behavior of hundreds of thousands of human players in a virtual world requires some kind of control mechanism. This is where shield models come in. Shield models are essentially algorithms that predict how players will behave under certain conditions. These algorithms take into account factors such as player level, class, and equipment. They also consider environmental factors like the time of day and weather. By analyzing these variables, shield models can anticipate how a player is likely to react in any given situation. For example, if a high-level player is traveling through a forest at night, the shield model might predict that they will be more likely to encounter hostile monsters. The model could then trigger a response from the game's AI, such as summoning additional guards or altering the behavior of existing NPCs (non-player characters). This allows the game designers to create immersive and dynamic experiences for players without having to manually script every possible scenario. Shield models have been used in EverQuest 2 since its launch in 2004. They have undergone significant updates over the years, with new features and improvements being added regularly. Today, shield models continue to play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of the game world and ensuring that players have a positive experience.
