Coming from excavations carried out in 1917 at Teotihuacan's Pyramid of the Sun. This sculpture depicts a skull with knotted bands indicating either death or sacrifice. Mictlantecuhtli, the god of death, is represented by a disc surrounded by folded paper strips. The City of the Gods, Teotihuacan, was a revered pilgrimage site and place of worship cherished by Aztec monarchs. This object is part of "Scan The World".
