A directional marker is not necessarily required to find a cave, as it often begins at a spot such as a blowhole. In order to access some underwater caves and sea floors safely, cave divers rely on directional markers like the directional arrow shown above. They are essential navigational tools for finding underwater passages in complex and remote cave systems. Cave divers must navigate narrow passageways where visual cues are hard to detect due to reduced visibility brought about by depth and currents, which necessitate careful route planning ahead of time to find your way around successfully while avoiding hazardous underwater rock formations along the way. It is often easier to spot these arrows than traditional markings when diving underwater because they point towards certain direction and can easily be overlooked if you are unaware that you should be looking for something other than natural underwater land features in order to reach specific places such as certain passages within the system or even escape routes if necessary.
