DirectDrive conversion kit (Bondtech) for Ender 5 / Ender 3

This is my direct drive conversion kit for my Ender 5 (should work for Ender 3 just the same). One of its major features is the fact that the actual hotend stays where it is, bolted to the metal plate. This ensures maximum stability and precision as well as unchanged printer geometry - you lose none of your build area. You need: * bondtech BMG extruder or clone * stepper driver extension cable * preferrably, a lightweiht pancake stepper motor, although the stock fullsized one will also do as a starter One additional benefit is, that you do not need to flash a modified firmware; at least that was the case for me, since there was no need to invert the motor direction. If the extruder acts the wrong way after the mod in your setup, you have to do something about it of course (swap the phases in the extension cable for instance). The only thing you really need to do is up the E-steps which you can do via Octoprint / Pronterface: ``` M92 E400 M500 ```` One more thing I had to do was to move the X endstop switch, which was triggered by the wheel before (not the best solution anyway). I included a small mounting plate which you can use for that (you'll need an additional t-slot nut and a screw in that case). The fan shroud is a remix of the HeroMe fan shroud - https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4460970 -, shrunk in the Y direction (the original is too big and makes the hotend carriage crash into the frame of the Ender 5).
