"Ender 3 Direct Drive" by Blyckert with a twist - chopped overhang! Functioned flawlessly in my Ender 5 until hours of printing exposed wear on extruder parts due to filament entering at an odd angle and grinding plastic. I opted for a mod, adding interfaces for the original PTFE tube to fit snugly in place. The filament path now closely resembles the bowden setup, dropping straight into the extruder. So far, no negative effects from added weight in the hotend/extruder have been noted. Two screws secure the entire assembly, holding strong with minimal strain. Requires longer M3 screw for extruder mount and M5 screw for optional spool end PTFE tube mount. Also necessitates an extension to the extruder cable - 0.7m should suffice. Either solder directly to wires or find connectors used in the cable loom. V2's boast a new design, addressing excessive bending in the original "PTFE-Tower". Spool end filament enters the PTFE tube awkwardly, consuming the holder. The spool end part utilizes original extruder mounting screws and t-nuts, while the extruder mount relies on V-slot wheel bolts but demands longer screws for smaller holes. Original heatsink shroud screws fall short by a few millimeters.
