I'm really impressed with Kliment/Josef's compact extruder and I've even made some modifications myself that work amazingly well. However, I was a bit underwhelmed by the relatively small useful area I got from my Mini i3 due to the large size of the compact extruder. This is a tiny direct-drive extrude for j-head hotends. Keep in mind it's not suitable for use at any speed above 40mm/s with 3mm filament. It can handle up to 100m/s for 1.75mm filament, though. Now I'm able to get 120x120mm out of my Mini i3, although it has become a slower printer overall. Perhaps with 1.75mm I'll be able to speed it back up. I'm not entirely sure if the 625 bearing for the motor shaft is necessary, but it doesn't seem to cause any issues. The lever and spring support, shown in orange in the pictures, come from http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:43411 To assemble this, you'll need: 2 M3x20mm screws 2 M3x18mm screws 2 M3x30mm screws 1 10mm diameter spring, 30mm long (mine came from a soap pump) 1 625zz bearing (you might be able to get away without it) 1 8mm drive gear 1 608ZZ bearing You can likely stop the print once the part is around 35 or 40 mm tall - there's no need to print all the way up to the motor support.
