Direct Drive for Ultimaker with Default Rods
thingiverse
The original upgrade involved replacing larger rods for direct drives on the Ultimaker 3D printer. After printing and assembling several parts, a custom rod spacer and direct drive were created. The process also included making the design printable without support and mounting all components onto the UM. Extensive testing was conducted over 10 hours of printing, followed by additional tests totaling over 100 hours. A fan mount for the steppers was added, and instructions on materials used were provided. Tips on tightening screws and ensuring smooth rod movement were given. A FAQ section was included for any questions or concerns regarding the upgrade process.
