Tested and works. Just needs some fine-tuning (fine-tunings). If possible, purchase Bondtech wheels and utilize my other model. It's easier to print, more robust, and with Bondtech wheel, it will print even better. Direct drive for Geeetech A30 (HW v3.1) by utilizing original components. No additional hardware is required. The cable for the stepper motor is long enough if your controller is placed at middle height. Alternatively, you can detach the cable from a clamp at the rear of the controller. To convert your printer to direct drive: 1. Print the parts. 2. Remove the filament motor with its assembly. 3. Remove the cage and top wheels on the carriage. 4. Cut the corners of the cage so nuts can fit. 5. Install the cage. 6. Measure and cut PTFE tube so it will fit into the printed part and heatsink. 7. Chamfer the PTFE tube (using a drill) so the chamfer will guide the filament. 8. Insert wheel nuts to the printed part. 9. Install printed parts with wheels. 10. Attach step motor (two bottom bolts). 11. Assemble spring, force wheel, and filament detector and the smaller printed part. 12. Mount it to the step motor. 13. Add and check length of wiring. 14. Secure the wires to the top so they won't hang too much.
