Direct Drive Extruder System for E3D V6 (Prusa I3)
pinshape
I created a direct drive extruder setup that mirrors the Printrbot's design. It employs a lever arm style filament pusher, requiring only four printed parts: Extruder Base Arm, v5 Arm, Pin Arm, and Spacer. The holes for the extruder base are precisely spaced to accommodate a Nema 17 stepper motor, necessitating only hole drilling after printing. I secure everything together with longer hardware, utilizing M3 nuts and bolts. A golf tee proves effective as the pin that passes through the ball bearing. Ball Bearing Dimensions: Outer Diameter - 10mm, Inner Diameter - 5mm, Thickness - 4mm. For the spring, I simply used a bed spring, sandwiching it between an M3 nut, washer, and M3 bolt. Print Details: Printer Brand - RepRap, Printer Model - Prusa I3, Raft Settings - No, Support Settings - No, Layer Resolution - 0.1mm, Infill Percentage - 40%.
