Direct Drive Extruder Servo Mount Improved
thingiverse
This improved version of Gumpwa Luong's Servo Mount thing # 559745 is tailored specifically for Marty Rice's awesome Direct Drive Extruder, which bears the identifier thing # 501755. To facilitate Auto Bed Leveling, a servo plays an integral role. Dimensions throughout are meticulously maintained to align with those originally presented by Gumpwa, ensuring seamless integration. Key additions include guide holes strategically positioned to accommodate the self-threading screws supplied with the servo itself, as well as nut traps designed specifically for M3 nuts used in securing the mount to the extruder body. Moreover, reinforced areas were incorporated to fortify structural integrity. A potentially printing issue was addressed within an unsupported section of the original design, further refining its reliability. This improvement pairs ideally with using my "Improved Z-Probe Limit Switch Holder" designed specifically for Auto Bed Leveling, which boasts thing #573181 identifier; this should be adjusted in accordance with specific hotend setups for maximum compatibility. Custom coding was initiated from scratch and provided as OpenSCAD source to ensure that this component can be further modified as desired. The detailed setup and printing process are reflected below: The prototype featured here was printed using Blue PLA at 35% infill.
