IMPORTANT: DO NOT PRINT THE ASSEMBLED STLS! THESE ARE FOR VISUAL REFERENCE ONLY, AND CONTAIN MULTIPLE PARTS. This collection assembles all of my prior direct drive extruder mounts and accessories into one "all-in-one" kit, from which you can select the specific extruder and motor mount you need for your setup, and add optional common elements, like generic filament mounts, Muscle v2.0 hotend cooling system direct drive specific parts (See the full Muscle v2.0 Bowden cooling system collection at: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4881453), a special Longer filament runout sensor housing, and other accessory parts depending on your needs. Note for Longer3D printer owners: Longer has recently started shipping some of its printers with a red metal dual gear extruder instead of its original black plastic one. If you have the red metal extruder, do NOT select either of the "Stock" mounts. Instead, select one of the "Dual Gear" mounts. It has also come to my attention that sometime in late 2021 Longer3D seems to have changed their stock black plastic extruder design and dimensions from what they previously were. The "Stock" extruder mount in this Thing was based on the earlier design, which exactly matches the locations and dimensions of the original SpeedDrive mount it was based on, and which is for non-Longer printers and the older black plastic extruders that Longer used to have. I printed and used that mount for my own Longer LK5 Pro printer before upgrading to a dual gear extruder. Therefore, if the "Stock" extruder mount here does not work for the extruder on your newer Longer printer, and you do NOT have a red metal extruder, you might try the updated "Stock_Longer_V2" version instead. In general, all of these extruder mounts are based on the most common open source 3-wheel hotend mount bracket used on most printers that are built on extruded "T" rail frames, and are for the standard open source 2-pin hotend that mounts on that bracket. (Ender 3-6, Creality CR3-5, Longer, etc.) The BMG extruder mount here is designed and intended for use with my E3d V6 hotend mount kit at: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5147081. But it should also work with most stock hotends as well as other E3d hotends and mounts. In those cases, there may be a slight bend in the short Capricorn tube that goes from the extruder to hotend, but that should not negatively affect anything. There are two versions of this mount. One is for the 3-wheel hotend carriage that has been the de facto open source standard for a long time. The other is for a larger, 4-wheel carriage (re: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZHWZ567 or https://smile.amazon.com/CCTREE-Printer-Upgrade-Extruder-Support/dp/B0823B9SP1/), which is becoming more common with newer printers that have factory direct drive setups. It is clearly identified as for the 4-wheel carriage. There are two general groupings of extruder mounts here. Assembled versions of these mounts are provided for visual reference only, and a few pictures of my own LK5 Pro when it was equipped with those extruder mounts are included in the Post Printing section. Please read and consider the following as you determine the best option for you: - Speeddrive derivatives, which are for front mounted extruders with rear mounted motors, will all have "Speeddrive" as part of their stl part name in this collection's parts list. The issue with these and other similar mounts, is that if you use a stock 4040 size motor, you will generally lose a small amount of X axis build space on the left side, about 5-6mm, and will most likely need to use the special Speeddrive Bumper in this kit to keep your motor from slamming the left upright. Depending on your printer, you may also lose some Z axis height, especially if you have front mounted gantry support rods, like I do on my Longer LK5 Pro. And for generic or dual gear extruders, you generally can't use a 4023 pancake motor, which would eliminate the build space loss, but is not not strong enough at safe current levels, to effectively drive a stock or dual gear extruder without missing steps. The Speeddrive BMG mount is designed for a BMG or clone extruder and 4023 "pancake" motor, but can also be used with a 4040 motor, if you are willing to lose the bit of left side build space inherent with that configuration. - Side mounts place the motor on the left and extruder on the right of the mount bracket. The orientation of this mount avoids the X and Z axis losses, and are what I prefer and recommend for stock and dual gear extruders. These have "Side Mount" as part of their stl part name in the collection's parts list. I do not provide or recommend a stock or BMG extruder side mount bracket here, only one for dual gear extruders, like Winsinn or equivalent. For those extruders, the side mount works very well. To facilitate printing, this mount is provided as a "kit", for both parts to be printed at the same time. For a BMG extruder (or clone) with a 4023 motor, you do not need to side mount it because their is no build area loss with that combination. And IMO, the better weight distribution and orientation of the Speeddrive style mounts provides better printer performance, especially at higher print speeds. Anything that starts with "Direct Drive" or "Filament Sensor", is an optional, supplemental part that is generic to and will work with any of these extruder mounts, regardless of orientation. The "Muscle" labeled parts in this collection are only needed if you are or are going to be using the Muscle v2.0 cooling system, as I do and I highly recommend. These parts are remixed from and replace their original counterparts in the original Muscle v2.0 thing, and are designed to work with one or more of the extruder mounts in this collection.
