Direct Drive Extruder - Idler Remix

thingiverse

While I loved the direct drive hinged extruder from ffleurey, it broke on me repeatedly. The printed stud was not strong enough for the tensions I was using. This part is my fix for those problems. The main difference here is that an M5 screw holds the bearing in place. To do this, this idler is now double-sided and its body has a slightly different shape to give the screw some support under tension, though most of the pressure will still go into the main body of the idler. Print Settings Printer Brand: RepRap Printer: Wilson Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.2 Infill: 70% Notes Recommend printing with supports; otherwise the overhang of the main bearing area ends up too rough. How I Designed This Thanks to ffleurey for posting the dxf file, which saved me a huge amount of time. I modeled it in Fusion 360 myself, where I could work through any issues quite quickly.
