Direct Drive extruder for E3D-v6
thingiverse
I've used the original mk8 direct drive hinged extruder with my E3D V5 dual fan setup for reliable PLA cooling, and it just works amazingly well. However, planning to upgrade to the E3D V6 requires a modification of the design, so I decided to allow PTFE tubing to run through the entire extruder frame. This allows me to insert a long tube, cut a hole at the motor gear and bearing location, and then continue the tube all the way to the hotend. V6 compatible, mounting points for two fans, and a 4mm hole through the whole frame for PTFE tubing are some of the key features I've included. I uploaded two files, one with dual fan mounting holes as seen in pictures and another with the original left side fan mount only. Important note: Since I don't have the V6 hotend yet, I can't test the actual fit at this time. Update on November 10th, 2015: A new file called "Extruder_dual_loose.stl" was added with holes that are 0.2mm larger around the hotend and PTFE mounting areas. This design change is aimed at solving tolerance issues on some printers and making assembly easier. If you want a tight fit extruder, you can still use the original design as long as your printer is properly calibrated.
