They are really a long way from each other, I'm afraid to say. Whatever is meant by "regular bat," one thing's for certain: it's not anything like that enormous, gruesome creature lurking in the darkness. This monstrous direbat isn't sneaking around to snatch unsuspecting small mammals; it probably has a taste for larger prey like horses and tends to do its dirty work under the cover of night. It comes in two frightening forms. There is the Aggressive flight pose and then there's Neutral, showing no intention of doing any harm. This one is perfectly suited for a homebrew tabletop game setting!
