Diopside
sketchfab
Diopside is a rock-forming pyroxene mineral that occurs widely in igneous and metamorphic rocks at numerous global locations. Gem-quality crystals of diopside are cut and polished into attractive gemstones occasionally seen in commercial jewelry. Granular diopside can be easily cut and polished when it has an attractive color, making it sometimes used as an ornamental stone. Diopside is particularly valuable for its use as an indicator mineral in the search for diamonds. Trail-to-lode prospecting using diopside and other minerals has discovered diamond deposits in Canada, the United States, Africa, and several other locations.
