Dinosaur tracksite of Capellan (South. France)
sketchfab
This is a Bathonian (Jurassic) dinosaur tracksite discovered in the river Jonte, situated on the Causses plateaux of southern France. Approximately one hundred tridactyl theropods, carnivorous dinosaurs, have been found on this platform. The site is home to the newly described ichnospecies Kayentapus ubacensis, as detailed in Gand et al., 2018 (DOI: 10.1016/j.annpal.2018.06.002). Initially investigated during my Master's thesis in 2012 (DOI: 10.13140/RG.2.2.10246.32323), this site features a ~35m long outcrop. This outcrop was reconstructed using MetaShape 1.5.5 from a set of ~370 cameras, although the overlap between images is poor since they were not originally taken for photogrammetry purposes, resulting in mediocre margin quality and areas with insignificant relief. Step into your VR HMD and come experience walking alongside dinosaurs! Thanks to UBFC (Dijon) and LPG Nantes.
