Dinosaur negative footprint (Capellan, France)
sketchfab
This is a theoropod negative footprint from a Bathonian (Jurassic) dinosaur tracksite situated in the river Jonte, in the Causses plateaux of southern France. On this platform, about a hundred tridactyl theropods - carnivorous dinosaurs - have been found here. The site is home to the new ichnospecies Kayentapus ubacensis, described in Gand et al., 2018 (DOI: 10.1016/j.annpal.2018.06.002), and was first investigated during my Master's thesis back in 2012 (DOI: 10.13140/RG.2.2.10246.32323). This negative print was taken on the removed overlying limestone bed that covered the tracksite, as seen at https://skfb.ly/6NXqX. It also features the filling of mudcracks present at the surface of muddy soil when the dinosaur walked. Turn the model upside-down to see the positive print. Thanks go to UBFC (Dijon) and LPG Nantes for their support.
