Dinosaur Herrerasaurus Ischigualastensis

Herrerasaurus ranks as one of the earliest dinosaurs known to date. Its name translates directly to "Herrera's lizard", a tribute to the rancher who initially uncovered the first specimen. Every fossil discovered so far of this carnivorous dinosaur has been unearthed in the Ischigualasto Formation, which dates back to the Carnian age (late Triassic according to the International Commission on Stratigraphy, approximately 231.4 million years ago) in northwestern Argentina.[1] The type species, Herrerasaurus ischigualastensis, was identified by Osvaldo Reig in 1963[2] and remains the sole species classified under this genus. Ischisaurus and Frenguellisaurus are recognized as synonymous with Herrerasaurus.
