This 2.5D Stegosaurus is a standout member of the three layered animal (tla) family. Its distinctive upright plates on its back make it impossible to forget. However, simplifying this design resulted in the loss of its tail spikes, which are incredibly fascinating features as well. This build was precision-cut on a desktop CNC machine by Stepcraft using 6.5 mm beech plywood and a 1.2 mm flute with spiral teeth. Following machining, it only required minimal sanding and simple assembly using glue. A laser cutter could be an ideal alternative tool for creating smaller versions of this design. You might also consider crafting an aluminum version and assembling the parts together to create a compact key fob.
