DIN Rail Universal Can Holder
prusaprinters

A simple magnetic organizer for your spray cans, mounted on a standard 35 x 7.5 DIN Rail.

The rail can be mounted to the wall with wall plugs and screws, to furniture with wood screws, anywhere you like.

Unlike a pegboard which has the board component that is difficult to cut and place in any space and then the actual pegs, which often break ( at least mine did ), the mounting point ( the DIN rail ) is extremely tough and hard to bend.

After printing, you'll need to glue in some 5x5x5 cube magnets with CA glue, with any magnetic pole facing the can position.

Needless to say, the cans cannot be aluminum, since they won't "stick" to the holder. The holder model has a 3 degree back angle, to slightly move the center of mass of the can towards the rail.

There are additional models included, an endcap for the rail, and two spacing cover variants ( one that can be printed as is, and one that should be printed in vase-mode ).

In the main image of the model, I used 4 universal holders, separated by 50mm sections of cover. The provided simple cover is 25mm, but you can scale it in the slicer as long or as short as you need it in the Z direction.

The cover and endcaps are optional, and are for aesthetics only ( hiding the rail underneath ).

In the second picture, you can see how the components stack up ( I removed a can and a holder at the end ).

Print instructions

Demo

<oembed url="https://www.youtube.com/embed/zdIR3Mvra7I"></oembed>

All models are oriented the way they should be printed.

No supports are needed.

You can scale the two cover versions in the Z direction to get parts as long or as short as you need. Take note of the two different models for covers, one is for regular printing, and one is a full profile that can be used to vase mode ( faster printing for the length ).

The models printed in the pictured are all at 0.2mm layer height, with a 0.4mm nozzle, and NX2 PLA by Extrudr.

Useful Links:

5x5x5 cube neodymium magnet set: Neodymium 5x5x5 mm 100 piece set (1)

Superglue: Pattex Super Glue Ultra Gel (2)

(1,2) These are amazon associate links, which help me with prototyping costs (electricity, filament, magnets).
