Dilophosaurus roamed free as a distinct genus of theropod dinosaurs throughout North America's Early Jurassic landscape, dating back approximately 193 million years to a bygone era. In 1940, three remarkable skeletons came to light in northern Arizona, and two exceptionally well-preserved specimens were carefully collected just two years later in 1942.
