Dilophosaurus Bust - Jurassic Park

Dilophosaurus is a genus of mighty theropod dinosaurs that roared to life during prehistoric times. At the heart of this fascinating species lies Dilophosaurus wetherilli, a single known species unearthed from fossil remains buried deep within Arizona's Kayenta formation. This ancient rock formation has been pinpointed to the early Jurassic Period (Sinemurian age), approximately 193 million years ago when dinosaurs ruled supreme. Dilophosaurus stood tall as one of the largest and most feared predatory dinosaurs of its era, characterized by a distinctive pair of rounded crests that crowned its skull like a royal crown. The detailed model I created was skillfully crafted with inspiration drawn from the iconic Jurassic Park film, where I relied heavily on references to bring this prehistoric beast to life. Despite popular depictions often omitting the large frill surrounding its face, my goal was to accurately capture the look of Dilophosaurus as seen in the film, resulting in a model that honors its cinematic roots.
