Digitizer Scanner Mutliscan Plate
thingiverse
This Base Plate is a game-changer for every MakerBot Digitizer user out there.\nThe Digitizer delivers exceptional scans with its Multiscan feature, but the single biggest hurdle users face is repositioning the object being scanned to achieve stable results, allowing for additional detail capture.\nThat's where this Base Plate comes in - simply print it using "MakerBot True Green PLA", employ the pins to support your item, and carefully reorient or repose it to execute the required number of Multiscans to get the extra detail you need.\nUsing this Base Plate makes holding objects while scanning child's play, allowing users to unlock the full potential of the Multiscan function.\nDon't miss out - print this using MakerBot True Green PLA, period!\nThe secret to invisible support: have you ever seen movie magic with "green screens" used for special effects? It's similar principle that applies here - since mid-green color doesn't get picked up by lasers, your scans will seem like they're happening right in mid-air! \nJust about anything can be secured and rearranged or repositioned using this base plate and its pins (just push them through from beneath) and none of it will appear in scans.\nCheck out the images for visual evidence!\nImportant tip: if any part still shows up a bit, try scanning at a lower light setting (that's Light). Instructions\nAbsolutely - MUST be printed using MakerBot True Green PLA to keep everything under wraps - that means Base Plate and Pins are totally invisible in scans.\nLay down the lugs of the Base Plate in the two corresponding holes on the Digitizer turntable. It clicks right into place.\nPoke the Pins of desired length through Base Plate, at spots where they support the item you want to scan - get it into a perfectly suited orientation.\nMore valuable advice: Success also relies heavily on fine-tuning your lighting environment; if scans keep getting too "noisy", block off that light from entering with an opaque covering - take a scan in darkness, but at Light setting.\nThe real kicker? Cover shiny surfaces first - grab water color paint or spray light grey/white - they can even clean up completely afterwards without hassle.
