Digital Sundial Cleansed - Segmented
thingiverse
NORTHERN ONLY This is a segmented version of Digital Sundial Cleansed by Margu, which was a cleaned-up remix of the original Digital Sundial by Mojoptix. This version is simply a broken-up version of the Cleansed Sundial. It's been segmented into four parts, allowing for failure of one or more segments without losing the entire print. The first and fourth segments are likely to be successful, while the middle two are prone to failure due to their many light-blocking bridges. I've marked each piece with dimples indicating which segment it mates to. Match one dimple to one dimple, two dimples to two dimples, and so forth. I've added pegs and holes to assist in aligning the segments when you glue them together. The first and last segments can be printed at .2 resolution, while the middle two need either .1 or .15 resolution. My apologies for creating only the Northern Hemisphere version. Please also see my Sundial test for testing your printer's bridging ability as it pertains to the sundial before committing to a print: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1568322 For more information, please refer to Margu's Sundial Cleansed at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1149469 and Mojoptix's original Digital Sundial at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1068443. Here is how I designed this project: I imported Margu's cleansed sundial into MS 3D Builder, then sliced it between the digits. Next, I used object cylinder creation for the pegs and holes, and embossing for the identification dimples. Finally, I saved each segment to a unique .STL file.
