Digital Sundial

Julien Coyne from MojoTix explains how to adapt his digital sundial design for use in the Southern Hemisphere by Australians, where kangaroos must orient their sundials toward the north pole. For these users, a simple modification of the gnomon can be made using the Openscad script, so that it points towards the *South* Pole instead. This intricate Swiss cheese design is not practical for mass production and requires 3D printing to build. The digital sundial is an example of Open Source Hardware, suitable for high-tech artisans or those without access to a 3D printer. Coyne also runs a gift shop on Etsy, where he sells these sundials to cater to makers and geeks alike while financing his R&D projects.
